Thanks, very interesting suggestions. I was just ‘folding corners’ myself and decided to look at what others have done. I work in Apple’s iWork/Pages, but I found your solutions useful for achieving similar effects in Pages.

I could do all of it except the gradient. The gradient tool is a lot harder to use on elements, which is what I have.
